Operation Santa

The Hughson Volunteer Firefighters Association, with the support of the Hughson Fire Protection District, brings the holiday spirit to the City of Hughson with the Santa Ops parade through the streets of Hughson every December. This fun family event is much anticipated by both the members of the department and the community. With Santa Claus riding on top of a decorated and lighted fire engine playing holiday music, the fire department helps spread some holiday cheer to the people we love to support and serve year-round.

Chicken BBQ

2026 Chicken BBQ Fundraiser

The 2026 Chicken BBQ was another successful year and fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. Once again, the proceeds from the BBQ will go toward fire and rescue equipment to help us better serve our community. See you in 2027!

Hughson Volunteer Firefighters Association Annual Chicken BBQ Fundraiser

Save the Date – Our 2027 Chicken BBQ will be held on Saturday, May 8th

In an effort to supplement the cost of operating the Hughson Fire Protection District (HFPD) and add needed fire and rescue equipment, the Hughson Volunteer Firefighters Association holds an annual Chicken BBQ fundraiser. The Chicken BBQ was established in 1988 and continues to be a successful fundraiser. In 2026, the department served approximately 2,200 chicken dinners.

From this fundraiser, the Volunteer Firefighters have purchased a multitude of emergency and rescue equipment. In recent years, proceeds from the annual Chicken BBQ have been used to assist the HFPD with the purchase of two new fire engines.

The engine purchased in 2014 cost $578K. The volunteers, through proceeds from the Chicken BBQ fundraisers, paid $238K (45%) of that cost. In 2020, the HFPD purchased another engine that cost $637K. The volunteers have projected that proceeds from the BBQ will pay $180K (28%) of that cost.

With proceeds from the 2024 BBQ, the volunteers helped supplement the cost of a new water rescue boat.

The Hughson Volunteer Firefighters thank you for your support!

Fireworks Booth

Save the Dates

The 2026 Fireworks Booth was another success thanks to all your support. The 2027 fireworks booth will again be located at the Hughson Fire Station. Dates and times will be announced as we get closer to July 4, 2027.

The Hughson Volunteer Firefighters Association appreciates the support shown throughout the years through the purchase of safe and sane fireworks at the Hughson Fire Department’s fireworks booth, located on the corner of Pine and Charles Streets in Hughson next to the fire station.

The funds raised are used to preserve the history of the fire district through the restoration and maintenance of former Hughson Fire Protection District apparatus. The community’s support for this important fundraiser continues to fund this important cause while promoting safety through the use of legal and safe fireworks.
