Hughson Volunteer Firefighters Association Annual Chicken BBQ Fund Raiser
Save the Date – Our 2025 Chicken BBQ will be held on Saturday May 10th
In an effort to supplement the cost to operate the Hughson Fire Protection District (HFPD) and add some needed fire and rescue equipment, the Hughson Volunteer Firefighters Association holds an Annual Chicken BBQ fundraiser. The chicken BBQ was established in 1988 and continues to be a successful fundraiser. In 2024 the department served approximately 2,300 chicken dinners.
From this fundraiser, the Volunteer Firefighters have purchased a multitude of emergency and rescue equipment. In recent years, the proceeds of the annual chicken BBQ have been used to assist the HFPD in the purchase of two new fire engines.
The engine purchased in 2014 cost was $578K. The volunteers, through the proceeds of our chicken BBQ fundraisers, paid for $238K (45%) of that cost. In 2020 the HFPD purchased another engine that cost $637K. The volunteers through the BBQ have projected to pay $180K (28%) of that cost.
In 2023, the volunteers also purchased over $90K of fire & rescue equipment that was either new to our department or upgraded to newer technology.
The Hughson Volunteer Firefighters thank you for your support!
